He will love you that much more.......
I thought it would be helpful for our clients to better understand where TFFG&G is in the marketplace; a lot of other online sellers and flea market vendors don’t tell you what I am going to say….

In today’s jewelry industry, we now have terminology such as solid gold, gold filled, and gold-plated items. So, what’s the difference between them all? Well, in short: solid gold jewelry is the highest quality, thus it’s the most expensive. Gold filled jewelry is a “less expensive”, yet still a valuable alternative to solid gold. And finally, gold plated jewelry is usually the least expensive and most accessible since it aesthetically looks like quality gold.

The specific differences between solid gold, gold filled, and gold-plated jewelry is explained further. And for you men out there that have trouble buying gifts, and ladies who want to look good, and not wear their more expensive items on occasion, pay attention because this info could help you decide what is best for you at a particular time.

Yes! When it comes to purchasing a piece of fine jewelry, you’ve got to understand the difference between Solid Gold, Gold Filled, Gold Plated, Vermeil and Rhodium Plated jewelry items. In addition, it’s important to know the difference between 10K, 14K, 18K, and 24K gold. These karat (K) numbers represent the exact percentage of real gold in each jewelry piece. Be sure to check for the karat number on the inside or back side of the gold jewelry piece you intend to buy. You want to get what you pay for.

Solid Gold Jewelry is a piece of jewelry made not entirely of gold. Gold is combined with other metals called alloys because fine gold is so soft it will not bind with itself-- inside and out. It’s the most expensive and durable among the other types of fine gold jewelry. Solid gold items can be either 10K, 14K, 18K, or 24K. Karats (K) are percentages of actual gold in the jewelry piece out of a 100 weight. Fine jewelry from European manufacturers use a different numbering system than karats. Instead of 10K, 14k, 18K and 24K, European jewelry has numbers like 417, 585, 750 and 999 for pure gold. These numbers are referred to as the “fineness”, and they represent the percentages of gold content in the alloy—just like karats.

Gold Filled Jewelry consists of 2-3 layers of solid gold (bonded or pressed) with other metals a brass, silver, or other base metal. These layers of solid gold can have different karats (10K, 14K, 18K and 24K). Gold filled jewelry is a typically a better alternative to gold plated jewelry. It won’t tarnish and it’s much more durable than gold plated jewelry. However, after about 20-30 years, you can begin to see some slight fading of the color.
Most of our items are “gold-plated”; but we strive to locate and offer only the best at 18k plated, that is dipped at least two to three time over an alloy, often brass…

We at Tallchief Fine Gewelry* & Gifts try to be upfront and honest about the fine, fashionable gold (and certainly not “costume”) gewelry* we offer. The asterisk means something….it means that our offerings most likely not solid gold or gold filled but the finest gold-plated pieces at 18 k and represent a value you can be proud of and display at your deference. Only you need to know…. (because, it will show as well as the others and last a while if well cared for). Over time the “glow will go” so it is not a “forever” piece; but good value. Well cared for, you can expect our gewelry* to last anywhere between 3 to 5 years…

Now we do also offer items that are "fine "jewelry pieces from time to time, and then we will tell you and it's price will certainly reflect it's value.

We will also display items  less than 18k plated for that segment who desire a nice piece to show…. It’s your choice to explain the value if you so desire, that’s up to you…. We will never tell…..
There is nothing to be ashamed of, if you purchase from us; and as I have said, “Only you need to know”…

Also, when it comes to silver, likewise most of our items will be "silver-plated" and the best will note that it is "925" silver ( 925 parts of 1000) that is , silver plated over an alloy of some kind. We will tell you the alloy if we can , but it could be copper, brass, rhodium or some combination, as again, silver will not bind with itself so the silver alloy is "dipped"  onto the alloy...

And to close out our discussion, most often our items are gewelry* with gem stones, (many man made).. Again, we will tell you.....

So, look and see…and select an item that you will be satisfied with, and when it’s time, come back and do it all over again with a love and a smile.

Thank you
